One of the first shots from the Bronica that Philip kindly loaned me. Last night I printed the contact sheet for this roll of film at the color darkroom AND got the CD with the negative scans back from the camera store. This is from a digital negative scan, and it's been really interesting to work with the actual negatives myself and then see the scans. Since they're all adjusted, it's hard to tell from the CD what you actually have on the negatives. Something I would never have known without taking a color darkroom class!

of course!

  1. That's not boring! Look how sharp. Look at the depth of field running the entire length of the image. Look at your composition of what is a landscape in miniature. The square format is particularly unusual when it comes to framing a composition that is largely made up of the natural and the horizon. Your lines and balance are delicious. As is the color. This is the color of that valley!

  2. Yay! Well, to be honest, this isn't from the roll that I said was boring, I'm actually happy with this one and will probably make it part of my final project. I've been wanting to take a photo of that house!

  3. Oh, and just keep bonding with that dang hunk of metal – it pays off. Don't even consider it a loan. Make it happy and make it yours! It makes a difference, the relationship between a musician and their instrument, an artist and their brush, the writer and their pen/typewriter/journal/keyboard.

If I never see it again, but get to appreciate what you make from it, that is worth it to me!
